eznatal: A HIPAA-Compliant Maternal Health Platform Built for Nationwide Scale

Fragmented homegrown systems across birth centers nationwide needed to be replaced with a unified, compliant platform serving expecting mothers — without disrupting ongoing operations. in-school delivered in 5 years, with zero audit findings.

The Challenge

eznatal serves expecting mothers and birth centers across the United States. The organization was operating on a collection of fragmented, homegrown systems that could not scale, lacked compliance certification, and created friction for both patients and birth center staff. The platform needed to unify class scheduling, an OB/GYN finder, product offerings, a full CRM, payment processing, and compliance management into a single cohesive system — while meeting the strict regulatory requirements of HIPAA and PCI-DSS from day one of go-live.

The Solution

in-school provided a team of 10 engineers over a five-year engagement to architect, build, and continuously evolve the eznatal platform. The team designed a unified system that brought together the full spectrum of maternal health workflows — patient-facing class discovery and registration, a nationwide OB/GYN finder, a product marketplace, an integrated CRM for birth centers, secure PCI-DSS certified payment processing, and ongoing HIPAA compliance management. The platform was built with compliance as a foundational architecture principle rather than a post-build addition, which directly enabled the zero-audit-findings outcome across the engagement period.

The Result

A fully unified, HIPAA-compliant, PCI-DSS certified maternal health platform deployed at nationwide scale — replacing all legacy homegrown systems. Zero audit findings across the entire five-year engagement. The platform continues to serve expecting mothers and birth centers across the United States.
