Global ALM Consolidation for a Major Legal Firm — Delivered Over Six Years Without a Single Disruption

Multiple concurrent development projects running across global offices on fragmented systems needed to be consolidated onto a single enterprise ALM platform — standardizing delivery, eliminating system sprawl, and doing it all without disrupting live legal operations.

The Challenge

A major California-based legal firm with global offices was managing multiple concurrent software development projects across a fragmented system landscape. Different offices operated on different tools and processes, making coordination difficult, visibility poor, and delivery inconsistent. The firm needed to consolidate its entire development operation onto a single enterprise Application Lifecycle Management platform — standardizing processes globally while keeping all offices fully operational throughout the transition.

The Solution

in-school provided a team of 14 engineers over a six-year engagement to plan, execute, and complete the full ALM consolidation onto Microsoft TFS. The team managed the migration of all active development projects across global offices onto the unified platform, standardized delivery processes and workflows, and reduced the organization's total system landscape to two platforms globally. The migration was executed incrementally to ensure no disruption to ongoing legal operations, with each office transition sequenced and validated before cutover.

The Result

Full consolidation of all global development projects onto a single ALM platform. System landscape reduced to two platforms globally. Delivery processes standardized across all offices. Zero business disruption across the entire six-year engagement.
